Training Services
Behavioral ModificationOur in-home behavioral modification packages are designed to work through various “behavioral” struggles that impede a healthy human-dog relationship. These behaviors may
include reactivity (barking on leash or out window), leash pulling, aggression, fear/anxiety, resource guarding, and overexcitement. In these programs, humans will learn the potential cause of the dog's behavior, how to better communicate with their dog to create change, and have an opportunity to practice modification techniques with a trainer present. Various tools and techniques may be suggested to create the best result. Starting at: $130 per 60 minute session OR

Obedience (Puppy & Adult)Our in-home obedience programs are designed to guide humans in becoming better trainers for their dog. These programs cover basic manners such as jumping behaviors, polite greetings, nipping, play styles, & potty training.
These programs also focus on obedience commands such as sit, down, come, wait, stay, take it, leave it, drop it, place, and loose-leash walking. Puppy Obedience with Marcus, Tracy, or Vic $360* with Ashley $400* At the puppy level (under 6 months), we will focus on early puppy socialization, manners, and basic obedience. The importance of mental, physical and social enrichment will be discussed. Adult Obedience with Marcus, Tracy, or Vic $360* with Ashley $400* At the adult level (6+ Months), we will focus on reviewing or teaching obedience and manners with more distractions, distance, and duration. Humans will continue to learn the importance of reading their dog's body language and communicating clearly and consistently. Included in both of these packages:

1:1 Training + Training HikesOur 1:1 training program is designed as a supplemental aid for dogs who are struggling with extreme anxiety, fear, overarousal, or socialization.
We understand that in some cases, the human may not be able to dedicate as much time as they would like to socializing or desensitizing their dog. Therefore, this program allows for a trainer to work directly with the dog to provide slow, yet consistent exposure to stimuli at a low level in order to aid with desensitization and coping skills. Trainers will help dogs build positive associations with stimuli and communicate methods for reinforcement with the human. These can also be scheduled individually as follow up maintenance training sessions. 1:1 training with Ashley $ 280/week OR $1,100/month Training Hike with Marcus, Tracy, or Vic $85 with Ashley $95 Included in these services:

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you train my *insert breed here*?
A: Yes! I do not specialize in any particular breed! I love working with all breeds and will work to find the proper enrichment and training methods for your particular situation!
Q: What package/class is right for me?
A: Great question! The best way to know for sure is to sign up for a free evaluation so I can meet your pup and discuss your specific training goals. However here is a general guideline:
- Obedience packages/group classes: for puppies & dogs who have never been taught basic commands or need to brush up on their skills around distractions (sit, down, come, stay, etc). Also great for dogs looking to learn fun tricks or take their obedience to the next level!
- Private behavioral sessions: for dogs who generally understand their commands but are dealing with behavioral concerns such as anxiety, fear, aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, leash pulling , etc.
- 1:1 Training/Training Hikes: usually for dogs who need additional socialization or intensive work through anxiety based behaviors. Great as a supplement to private sessions.
Q: Do I have to be involved in the training?
A: Yes. For all lessons (other than 1:1 training) you must be present during the training. It is my responsibility as a trainer to be a good teacher and leader for YOU, the human, so that you can be a good teacher and leader for your dog!
Q: Is there a quick fix?
A: Unfortunately no. Trust me, if there were— I’d give it to you! Dogs, like humans, are complicated, emotional beings who take time to build new skills and new habits. Because of this, every individual case is different. Certain behaviors like “sit”, “down” and “stay” may be taught quickly. But more complicated behaviors, such as social skills and manners or listening to commands around distractions, take time. We must remain patient, flexible and open with them during the training process while they develop and learn.
Q: Can my old dog learn new tricks?
A: Absolutely! While it may take a little longer for your older dog to break some of those ingrained habits, they can certainly be taught new skills with patience, practice & consistency!
Q: How do you feel about prong collars, e-collars, etc?
A: I think these tools have a bad reputation for an understandable reason. They are available for purchase to the general public leading to widespread misuse and misunderstanding. When the correct tool is used properly (to communicate and give information rather than to correct & confuse), they can be incredibly helpful, and often life-saving, training devices. However, I do suggest attempting other training methods and modification techniques prior to resorting to these tools when possible. I also do NOT advise using either tool without guidance from a professional and I do NOT suggest buying either tool without asking a professional for a recommendation. There are several brands that will do more harm than good.

Training Policies
Scheduling
All training visits must be preceded by an evaluation. This can be completed via formal in-person meet and greet with Ashley or via phone call with Ashley. This initial meeting is your time to get to know the trainer and ask any initial questions about our programs. We will help determine which training program is correct for you and your dog at this time.
All sessions in a training package (obedience, behavioral, and 1:1) must be scheduled up front in order to reserve the package.
To RESCHEDULE a scheduled session, contact us at 484-228-1517 or send an email to ashleysadventurespetsitting@gmail.com.
If we do not receive advance notice, a family member, 16 years old or over, is expected to be at each scheduled session. If Ashley arrives for a session and no one is present, the session will be forfeited.
To CANCEL a scheduled session, our regular cancellation policies apply. 72 hours advance notice must be made in order to avoid late cancellation fees, unless cancellation is due to severe weather or a family emergency.
Payments
For individual training sessions, payment must be made in full the day before your lesson.
For training packages (obedience, behavioral, and 1:1), the package must be paid in full by the first session.
Please discuss your payment options and plan during the meet and greet.
Ashley's Animal Academy currently accepts cash, check, Venmo, Paypal and payments made directly through invoice by bank transfer or credit card.
